How well do you know fruits?

Did you know that tomatoes are a fruit? Did you also know that avocados are a fruit? In this lesson participants learned how to define a fruit, the benefits of fruit, and about the impact of weather (seasons) on fruit quality. 

 

Lesson overview:

  • Benefits of eating fruit protects colon health (helps you poop!), manage weight, decrease health risks, and provides lots of dietary fiber.

​

  • Fruits are a good snack alternatives.

​

  • Decrease health risks for cardiovascular disease (heart disease), type 2 diabetes, metabolic syndrome, chronic lung disease, and asthma.

​

  •  Dietary fiber promotes gut health, lowers cholesterol levels, and are a good source of probiotics. ​​
