Lesson 3:
Types of Fat

There are two types of fats: saturated and unsaturated fats. Even though both are important in small amounts, too much saturated fat can build up in our arteries, which can lead to future health issues.

Although we do need some fat to build our cells and keep us warm, too much can make it hard to move and lead to future heart issues. It is best to consume fats in moderation, and reduce the amount of saturated fats you eat or substitute them with unsaturated fats!

By the end of this lesson you should be able to...

  1. Name and define the two types of fats.

  2. Identify one benefit of healthy fat and one consequence of eating too much fat.

  3. Recognize one unhealthy fat and a healthier alternative to try in the future.
